I had a pretty good childhood. I didn’t start to rebel until I was in high school. I started dating a man six years older than me. From there, I started smoking weed and drinking occasionally. When I was 18, I met a man that would change my life drastically. He was addicted to opioids. He got me to try my first one and I went downhill from there.
We had a son in 2010 and in 2012. He was killed in a one-car accident five miles from home. When that happened, I went on a downhill spiral, drinking every night. I was doing any drug that I came across and being promiscuous.
After a few years I met the love of my life. I had already stopped drinking, but I was still doing drugs. He never was an addict, so he left me after getting tired of my lying, cheating, and stealing.
Last year, I had overdosed on methadone, Xanax, and heroin, and this landed me with the option of either rehab or 11/29 in jail, so I chose the Women of Hope. After coming here, my relationships have been completely restored, even with my mom and the kids is better than ever. I have more joy than I have had in years. I owe it all to God and to this program.
